Eastern Oyster (Crassostrea virginica)

Northern Clam (Mercenaria mercenaria)

The two dominant market varieties of northern quahog clam in Georgia are the Savannah and the Sapelo Island varieties. The clam season is open year round in Georgia with meat quality remaining fairly consistent throughout the year. This clam supports a lucrative industry and is which is supported by harvest of wild and cultivated clams.
